How Can I Improve My Golf Game By Paying Attention To Details

By Kathryn Neal

Golf is a game that needs a lot of patience, timing, details, focus, and correct posture. What many people do not pay attention to is the correct way the body should be positioned and how each individual body part must move in order to perform the correct swing. The answer to how can I improve my golf game is to simply pay attention to all of the little things like the movement of the feet, legs, arms, and waist.

Before taking a swing, the first thing that one must pay attention to would be where he plants his feet on the ground. Even though his feet should be parallel to his shoulders when he is going to take a swing, he must know that one leg should have more weight than the other. The foot that should have more weight would be the foot that is behind the ball when going for the swing.

If foot positioning is very crucial to the game, then foot movement would be even more important. Take note that the foot with more weight in it will be the one that will push the entire body in an upward centrifugal movement to give force. The correct timing and foot movement will produce a very strong shot that will bring the ball forward.

The force from the feet will be going up to the waist which means that the waist will also be participating in the movement. The circular movement of the hip is extremely important because it adds to the force of the swing. Circular movement is the secret force behind the power of many professional golfers.

Hitting the ball hard is one thing but hitting it in the right direction is another different story. Although the hit is good and strong, it will really amount to nothing if the strong hit is swung wrongly and the ball goes flying off somewhere other than the hole. So the only way to keep stability is to stick the elbow to the waist so that the body does not allow the arms to go in the wrong side.

When it comes to the arms, it is always important for a golfer to remember to make his grip firm but to relax his forearms and his upper arms. This way, his shot will be both smooth and solid. This will also result in a straighter shot because if the body is too tense, there is a big tendency that the player might hit the ball elsewhere.

What a lot of players do not know is that the club also plays a big role in the swing. One secret that a lot of golfers do not really share is that when one makes the swing, he has to hit the ball with the center of the club. This will enable the shot to be both solid and strong at the exact same time.

So when asking how can I improve my golf game, always remember the basics and the little details first. Work on these things before going to the advanced stuff. Just a little bit of attention and some practice will really affect the quality of the game.
