Mental Golf Tips For The Winner At Heart

By Cathy Mercer

When it comes to sports, there are those that play simply for the fun of it, and others who play to win. Some have developed certain strategies that would help them on their journey of obtaining victory. The world of golf is a slightly different beast in which 90 percent of the game is considered mental. Mental golf tips come in handy for the who wants nothing less than pure triumph.

Handicappers have a very hard task in front of them when they are yet trying to develop their swing, while trying to keep it together mentally. Believe it or not, there are some mental strategies that can help individuals improve their game using a physical element as well as mental. This oftentimes leads to confidence that can be carried throughout the game.

One mental trick for many is to concentrate more on getting the ball into the hole with fewer strokes. Many are concerned about how they look in front of others. The mental note that should be made is to score; and not necessarily swing. Negative performance will most likely result because the mind will be more focused on looks whether than technique.

There are goals that are important at this time. That' moving the ball from goal A to goal B using the shortest and safest route as possible. Don't focus on the bad holes that may result, which often leads to discouragement. Playing hole-by-hole affords the opportunity for a rebound if necessary.

When the game looks to be going the opposite of what an individual desires, it's important to keep a good attitude. There is more for an individual to gain at this stage by not correcting everything that went wrong, but by learning from mistakes. Bad shots should be looked at as opportunities to improve on one's game.

So what if a ball happens to go into the trees. Use this as an opportunity to recover the shot. Individuals can be completely misled in believing that their opponent has ruined their chances of winning. Go beyond their expectations by making the most of the situation. Don't fall apart, because that's what most opponents want. If an individual had a bad series of shots, it's time to move their focus on getting a good series of shots.

Verbalization of shots to be made are great! Calling out the shots allow the individual to mentally get a picture of what they would like to accomplish, and speak it out into the atmosphere. They are now are to remain focused, get into position, and then take that swing. Individuals may actually enjoy stating what they are going to do in the presence of their opponents. It may cause some concern, especially when what they speak manifests!

Just make sure to speak something that is not entirely ludicrous. Speak something that is attainable. Even if the shot doesn't get made, at least the individual remained focus for the task at hand. Mental golf tips are a great way for individuals to come out ahead whether they win or lose.
