Back Weighting Golf Clubs Help You To A Far Better Handicap

By Roseann Hudson

The right club can make or break your game. By using back weighting golf clubs or adding weight under the grips it can improve one's game by leaps and bounds. Before Jack Nicklaus mentioned that he uses them they were almost unheard of. They are used to make the club feel more stable and also make it move more easily through the change of direction. Without the use of them the club is likely to swing slightly off course and the timing will be off as well.

They can be used by inserting weights inside the shaft before the grip is added. Another is by adding lead foil tape under the grip piece. Many golf shops will be able to give some advice when it comes to which would be best for ones driver.

A club has three parts to it; the head, shaft and the grip. They can either be bought separately or in a set. All sets consist of three woods, one hybrid, seven irons and a putter. The amount of clubs one is allowed to carry in the bag is fourteen so some players like to add another wedge or specialty hybrid.

Some clubs have extra weight in the head where up to ten grams are added, this allows maximum heel toe weight and another place is underneath the grip. This can be as much as fifty grams. This will ensure that one has a better control of the club head and at the same time the swing will feel much lighter. With the advantage of having the weight in the head of the clubs one is able to change the grips making the feel even more comfortable.

A driver also known as the one wood has the lowest loft of all the clubs. This is the angle of the club face and will control the arc of the ball as well as the distance when hit. The more experienced one is the lower the loft driver will need to be.

The driver is considered to be the most expensive of all the single clubs mainly because it has to drive the players ball a good distance to the fairway. The closer it gets to the hole the fewer strokes will be needed to finish. For the amateur player they are around about $130 to $500 while the custom made ones can be as much as a few thousand dollars.

A loft is the measurement in degrees; this is the angle at which the face of the club sits from the shaft. Try to imagine a line going down the shaft and continuing into the ground. Imagine another running from the clubface at the top down to the bottom and then into the ground. The place where these two meet will create an angle. This is called the golf club loft.

Combined with the back weighting of golf clubs and the correct loft angle this will make the ball go great distances. A much higher arc will be achieved improving ones game. It has been noted that some players are able to pick up an extra four miles an hour on the balls speed.
