Golf Newcomer - Deciding On Clone Golf Clubs or Name Brand Clubs

By Steve McCloud

The golf game requires buying golf clubs and there is a learning curve. Until one has some experience under their belt, it's best to buy a pre-owned set or purchase an expensive set of clubs.

Always consider buying clone golf clubs. They deliver an equivalent experience as expensive branded and highly advertised clubs but at great savings. Those who are just beginning their golf experience, it's highly rare that one will have a grasp of what clubs and equipment tweaks would help their game.

Purchasing new golf clubs is an exciting costly expensive investment so perhaps you will take time to get more experience playing the game before you take the plunge. But what you really want, more than anything, is to get clubs that compliment your typical features.

Critical to the performance of any golf clubs is that the clubs are a good match for the player who is playing them. Getting a suitable match is the single most cruital factor influencing perperformance. By playing, ideas of what club features are important to your game become more obvious and intuitive thinking, as to equipment choice, develops.

Woods: A 1-wood is term the driver but there are also "drivers" that are dedicated drivers, and not a 1-wood. Fairway woods are shorter in length, the driver being the longest club in the bag. In the end, personal preference and how it actually feels to hit the ball with the driver or fairway wood is what really counts.

Irons: Those steel clubs with thin metal blades cut on their face are called irons. Irons are classified by distance ranges as long, mid and short irons. The irons with the highest lofts are the short irons. The short irons are the 8 and 9 irons. Mid irons are 5, 6 and 7 irons and the long irons are 1, 2, 3 and 4 irons.

Putters: There is a quite a diversity of shapes and styles when it comes to putters. It comes down to individual preference and feel as to which putter does the trick. Belly putters provide another point of contact as the name implies. The long broomstick putter simulates a pendulum in order to minimize the wrists influence.

Utility clubs: The combination of wood and iron features in a club is called a utility club and are best for newbies who may not want to buy too many clubs in the beginning. The center of gravity on a lot of golf clubs is usually around the middle to high point on a clubface.

If you are just getting started, it is better to get the more inexpensive clone clubs or a used set. Hybrid gold clubs use the same materials and standards as the expensive advertised top brand names but at much less expensive price. With experience you will develop preferences and then can opt for shiny new expensive clubs or a clone club honed to your individual needs.
